School of Nursing

We strive to prepare highly qualified graduates for lucrative and rewarding careers in nursing while enhancing the diversity of the nursing workforce in Houston and the nation. That conviction runs deep, shaping the philosophy of our School of Nursing and every endeavor it undertakes, including the 12-month Accelerated Bachelor of Nursing program.

We frame the essential elements of healing ministry for University of St. Thomas nurses as follows:

  • Person: Bringing self-awareness, intentionality and consciousness to healing encounters.
  • Nursing: Expressing therapeutic capacity through spiritual calling and commitment.
  • Health: Understanding health is a total state of being comprising body, mind and spirit.
  • Environment: Creating conditions and relationships necessary for healing.
