University Of St. Thomas Houston ABSN Requirements
Our 12-month ABSN program in Houston allows you to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing on an accelerated timeline, even if you have no prior healthcare experience.

ABSN@UST empowers you to leverage your previous education into a rewarding career as a nurse. However, in order to do so, you must first meet certain academic requirements.
In addition to holding a non-nursing bachelor’s degree or at least 60 non-nursing college credits from a regionally accredited university, to be eligible to start in the ABSN program at the University of St. Thomas, each student must:
- Meet—or develop a plan with an admissions advisor to meet—the prerequisites for the program prior to enrollment.
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (including a 3.0 GPA for all prerequisite science courses). If a 3.0 has not been earned, connect with an admissions advisor to discuss options.
- Earn passing score(s) on either the HESI or the TEAS entrance exam.
